Germany plans to fully open the borders from June 15, closed in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. This was reported by DW with reference to a statement by the country’s Interior Ministry.

Germany is reported to begin easing border restrictions this Saturday, May 16. The Interior Ministry says it will strive for a complete cessation of control on all sections of the border on June 15.

At the same time, starting May 16, it is planned to remove restrictions on the border with Luxembourg and Denmark.

Remember, it was previously reported that Austria and Germany plan to fully open the common border starting June 15. In addition, as of May 15, selective control will operate at the border. The agreements were reached by the Austrian chancellors Sebastian Kurtz and Germany Angela Merkel.

On Merkel’s eve, she announced Germany’s entry into the “new phase of the pandemic.” The new phase is less restrictive, and citizens adhere to the “basic requirements” necessary to prevent the spread of a new type of virus.
