Germany has offered the US a deal on Nord Stream-2

Berlin tries to dissuade Washington from sanctions against Nord Stream 2

Berlin promises Washington to build two terminals to receive US liquefied gas due to the exemption from sanctions against the Russian gas pipeline, the media learned.

The German authorities have offered the United States an agreement on the Nord Stream 2 project, writes the daily Die Zeit on Wednesday 16 September.

According to the newspaper, Germany has expressed its willingness to invest up to one billion euros in the construction in Germany of two terminals to receive US liquefied gas at the ports of Brunsbuttel and Wilhelmhaven.

“In response, the United States will allow the smooth completion and operation of Nord Stream 2,” says a letter from Federal Republic of Germany Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz sent in August to US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin.

Note that according to media reports, in September, liquefied gas purchases in Europe for the first time in 2020 were lower than in the past. Since January, Europe has received 64.2 billion cubic meters of LNG after regasification, a decrease of 3.9%. The main reason for such dynamics was the collapse of supplies from American factories.

Note that recently in Germany and Europe they began to talk about the blocking of Nord Stream 2 due to the poisoning of Alexei Navalny.
