Ukraine may become a site for the production of drugs for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The German ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldguzen made such a statement on Friday, December 18, in the Kiev Forum online debate. She is quoted by the “Pryamiy” edition.
Feldgusen stressed that despite its support for globalization, Germany is committed to making drugs to fight the pandemic closer to home.
“This is also an opportunity for Ukraine”, – Feldgusen said. He pointed out the advantages of Ukraine: the country’s geographical proximity to the European Union and the availability of qualified experts.
He added that Germany and Ukraine, thanks to strict quarantines at the beginning of the pandemic, were able to adapt, which helped not to overwhelm health systems.

According to the state’s chief sanitary physician, Viktor Lyashko, preclinical trials of the Ukrainian vaccine have shown good results. Previously, the drug may appear in 2021.
The Lviv Institute of Cell Biology (10 million) and the Institute of Biochemistry (3 million hryvnia) won state grants for the development of a national vaccine.
Earlier it was learned that Ukrainian scientists with Israeli colleagues will work together to create a vaccine against the coronavirus, the development of which has already begun in Israel.
