German chancellor extended strict quarantine in the country

Germany introduced the mandatory use of masks in public transport

The German authorities have introduced the mandatory use of medical masks in public transport and shops.

German authorities have extended the restrictive measures imposed by the coronavirus until February 14, said German Chancellor Angela Merkel. This was announced on Tuesday, January 19, by the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper.

According to Merkel, the decrease in the number of infected is “a reason for hope”, but the new strain of COVID-19 poses a particular danger, so the restrictions cannot yet be relaxed.

“We held talks today and agreed to introduce new measures. We are doing so as a precautionary measure for the health of citizens, as well as for the economy and the labor market,” Merkel said.

The new restrictions include the mandatory use of medical masks and respirators in public transportation and stores. It should be noted that in these places you cannot wear rag masks or cover your nose with a scarf.

“We are expanding the duty to use medical masks, that is, OP masks, as well as FFP2, K95, N95 masks, to provide better protection. This applies to shops and public transport, and in general for situations where prolonged contact occurs. ” – reports his words to RIA Novosti.

German authorities also urged employers to transfer as many employees as possible to telecommuting.

In addition, the rule to reduce social contacts will be in force, schools and kindergartens will remain closed.

Recall that a new type of coronavirus was detected in 35 patients at a hospital in the Bavarian city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany.
