Saturday’s program of matchday 10 of the Ukrainian Premier League continued with a match in Chernihiv, in which it was easy to determine the outsider and the favorite of the couple. The Golden Lions did not go on offense for the rest of the fight, following their success in the opening segment, focusing on defending their own goal. Surprisingly, it turned out that the three-defender scheme is perfect for the residents of Lviv, although in the “Tsetsadze era” team fans clung to their hearts at the mere mention of this option.
The PFC qualitatively blocked the zones on the way to its own penalty area, and also regularly extinguished the opponent’s passes from the flanks already at the time of its execution. But even with such a seemingly stable game, the situation at Kostik’s doorstep cannot be called quiet. Let’s be simple, “Desna” only blew his chances in attack, and the 88th minute episode with a miss a few meters from Budkovsky will only top the list of opportunities that did not materialize during the game.
The Chernihiv residents focused on the standard arrangements and even managed to push the ball into the goal twice, together with the opponents’ goalkeeper. Unfortunately for the hosts, referee Sergei Boyko did not like this way of scoring, so Desna was left goalless as a result of this confrontation. The tension was palpable, the game was a breeze to watch, the teams were giving their best – it was one of the best games of the tour! And his result proves once again that in Ukrainian football you can always find something to be surprised about. In a positive context, of course.
In the next round, Desna Chernihiv will play at Kolos de Kovalevka, while PFC Lviv will host Mariupol at home.
