Today, November 21, the G20 summit dedicated to the problem of COVID-19 takes place. In connection with the coronavirus pandemic, it connects to the Internet.

RBK-Ukraine has compiled the main statements of world leaders.

European Union

The president of the European Commission called on G20 countries to allocate $ 4.5 billion by the end of this year for the ACT-A initiative, which guarantees universal access to COVID-19 tests, vaccines and medicines.

“Vaccines will help overcome the pandemic. At the G20 summit, I called for $ 4.5 billion to be invested in the ACT Accelerator initiative by the end of 2020. For the global production and distribution of COVID-19 tests, drugs and vaccines.” said Ursula von der Leyen.

Germany

German Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed the need for global cohesion in the face of a pandemic.

“If we are united around the world, then we can defeat the virus and overcome its consequences,” he emphasized and called for more funds for the World Health Organization.

France

French President Emmanuel Macron expects the finished vaccine to be available by the end of 2020.

“But the second priority, which is equally important, is to ensure universal access to technologies to combat the coronavirus. When the first vaccine goes on the market, it is necessary to guarantee access to it worldwide,” he said.

Macron urged not to allow a scenario where only the rich can defeat the virus and abandon national selfishness in the fight against COVID-19, and also advocated close cooperation with developing countries.

China

The head of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, proposed to launch a global QR code system with COVID test results, which will be sent to people. That system already exists in China.

“China offers a global mechanism for mutual recognition of health certificates based on nucleic acid test results in the form of internationally recognized QR codes. We hope that more countries will join this mechanism,” said Xi Jinping.

China has the following system of “health codes”. Each person receives a “red”, “yellow” or “green” QR code based on coronavirus tests and other parameters. To visit many places, the QR code must be “green”.

Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his willingness to provide Russian vaccines to countries in need. Note that today none of them have passed all the testing stages and are not recognized by the world community.

We will recall, previously, that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, accused the developers of vaccines against COVID-19 in a “conspiracy” against him.

It was also learned that the pharmaceutical companies Biontech and Pfizer have submitted an application for registration of a vaccine against the coronavirus.
