“If Xiaomi had previously categorically denied the launch of the device, now the official position on this issue is not as categorical,” it said in the message.
It is noted that as part of a regular chat session with Xiaomi Vice President and Redmi Brand President Lou Weibing, the company will consider implementing this protection measure for future products.

To be fair, there are plenty of commercials online with the latest Xiaomi, Redmi and OnePlus smartphones, confirming that these devices are really well protected against accidental splashes and dives, although the manufacturers do not officially declare this feature.
Furthermore, it must be said that an IP68 rating is a fairly conditional guarantee of this same water resistance. First, the protection efficiency can be reduced even when used normally, not to mention repair. Second, damage caused by immersion in the liquid is not covered under warranty, even for waterproof models protected in accordance with the requirements of the IP68 specification.
