About five months ago, on October 28, 2020, blogger and former actor who called himself “military expert” Alexey Arestovich became a de facto advisor and speaker for the Ukrainian delegation of the trilateral contact group in Minsk (TCG) to resolve the situation. in Donbass.
According to him, the decision on the appointment was made by the head of the Ukrainian delegation of the TCG, the first president of independent Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk. “I was appointed an adviser to the delegation on information policy with the authority of a ‘single voice’ to inform the media, international partners and the people of Ukraine,” Arestovich wrote on Facebook at the time.
Almost a month later, on December 1, 2020, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak appointed Arestovich as an independent advisor on strategic communications in the field of national security and defense.
The head of the bureau stressed that Arestovich will be responsible, among other things, for the formation of the information policy of the “single voice” in order to counter the spread of disinformation in the Ukrainian information space, where, according to him , “Many forgeries, distorted information and baseless accusations are replicated, which must be timely and respond well.”
The appointment of Arestovich as president of the TCG in Minsk and as an independent adviser to the head of the presidential office provoked a strong negative reaction from both the journalistic community and civil society. The reason is the controversial reputation of this blogger and the scandals associated with his name.
“This is south. Aleksey Arestovich became the only (judging by his position) official spokesman for the Ukrainian negotiating group in the Minsk process. This is the same Arestovich who, after the outbreak of the war, lied to journalists for several years, posing as a “military expert.” And then he confessed this … I wonder: any interview with him should begin with the question: “Do you intend to lie now?” – he wrote journalist Irina Romaliyskaya.
Actor, psychologist and “military expert”
Arestovich was born 45 years ago in Georgia into the family of a military man, Reserve Colonel Nikolai Arestovich. Later, the family moved to Ukraine, where in 1992 he graduated from the mathematics gymnasium No. 178 and entered the biology faculty of Shevchenko University.
In his first year, Arestovich dropped out of university, became interested in the acting profession, performed in the Kiev theater studio “Black Square”, starred in commercials (“Oranta”, Life :), chocolate “Crown”) and serials ( “Return of Mukhtar”, “Fear not, I am near”, “Brother for brother – 2”).

In an interview with dsnews.ua, Arestovich said that he graduated from the Odessa Land Forces Institute, has a military translator diploma and spent 12 years in service, but in 2005, with a scandal, he had to resign from the ranks of the Armed Forces and give up his military career.
“I worked in the Department of Strategic Studies of the Ministry of Defense. The reports that we prepared went directly to the table for the president, the prime minister, the defense minister, the head of the Verkhovna Rada, etc. And after the Orange Revolution , the situation in the country changed. The directives and teaching military officers how to serve them is silly, “Arestovich said.
In other interviews, he stated that from 1999 to 2005 he worked in the General Intelligence Directorate, he was a captain.
Since the 2000s, Arestovich begins to conduct seminars and psychological trainings, enters the school of the author “Man among the people” of the Russian psychologist Absalom Podvodny, studies theology at the Kiev Institute of Religious Sciences of St. Thomas Aquinas.
In one of the training portals next to Arestovich’s photo it is written: “Since 2000 I have been conducting trainings and consultations in the field of group psychology, on the fight against unfair manipulation, the art of communication, oratory, negotiation techniques, public speaking, acting, psychology of social contacts “.
Since 2014, Arestovich begins to position himself as a “military expert”, he actively comments on military events on social networks and the media, in particular the war in Donbass. His Facebook page is rapidly gaining subscribers, at the moment there are more than 186 thousand.
“Orange plague”, “fuck … I would” – Zelensky voters, Medvedchuk TV channels – “no enemies” and other scandals
– IN 2005 year Arestovich joins Dmitry Korchinsky’s Brotherhood party, eventually becomes his deputy and actively opposes the Orange Revolution. The party chief and his deputy travel to Moscow for a conference of the “Eurasian movement” of one of the ideologues of the “Russian world” Alexander Dugin, where Arestovich says that the Russians underestimate the “degree of danger of the threat of the” orange plague “.

In 2008, Arestovich’s political course changed dramatically, and he and Korchinsky had already discussed the “strategy for the defense of Crimea” from the Russian invaders.
In January 2019, Arestovich, in an interview with journalist Roman Skrypin, said that the trips to Russia to the Dugin conference were attempts to study the enemy closely.
– December 21, 2017 Arestovich posted a post on Facebook, in which he admitted that he “lied since spring 2014.” He lied, or rather, “did not say what he really thought”, for two purposes.
“There were two main lines. The creation of a patriotic popular impression, in which we are” dnamosya, shanuєmosya and heroichni “, and bright prospects await Ukraine. Black propaganda against the Russian Federation,” he wrote.
Arestovich also admitted that he does not consider himself a patriot, “and not only of Ukraine, but of any national state.”
“I look at the themes of restoring historical memory, justice, struggles, victories and defeats, the formation of nations, language (s), closing historical wounds like a soldier to a louse,” he argued.
– March 31, 2020 On his Facebook page, Arestovich wrote that he considers Volodymyr Zelensky’s voters “vulgar bastards … bami.”
“What else can you call the people who, being aware, decided that replacing the oligarchs with oligarch puppets is the best way to defeat the oligarchs? The deaths at the front and the” additional “deaths at the hospitals, all of you are to blame, personally, all those who voted for a miracle, all who voted “… not for a miracle, but against Poroshenko?” – wrote Arestovich.
At the end of the same year, already in the rank of speaker and adviser to TKG, Yermak Arestovich said on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24 that his private position should be distinguished from the official one.
“If it’s personal, then I can point out that not only Zelensky voters, but also some officials or journalists seem to me the same fucking sometimes … bami so far. This is if it’s personal. Yes, as a civil servant, then no, I cannot name a single citizen of Ukraine with a bad word. I love and appreciate everyone, regardless of political color and regardless of their membership in political parties, their views or their change, “said Arestovich.
– December 8, 2020 In an interview with Hromadsky Radio, Arestovich said that the Ukrainian television channels, which are associated with the pro-Russian MP for the Opposition Platform – For Life, Viktor Medvedchuk, are not enemies.
The journalist asked whether, in his opinion, the concentration of three television channels that provided “controversial information” constituted a threat to national security. “They are not our enemies, they are representatives of the Ukrainian media, operating in accordance with the law. We welcome their professional activities,” Arestovich replied.
– March 16, 2021 Already in the rank of representative of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, Arestovich sent one of the Facebook users in three letters, who asked him to write in Ukrainian, reporting on the work of the trilateral group.
In comments, user Viktor Ivanov addressed Arestovich: “Sir, the same is in Ukrainian. You claim that you are part of the Ukrainian delegation.” In response to this, the Ukrainian representative at the TCG wrote: “Damn … d. Is that clearer?”
