New quarantine announced in France
To leave home, the French will need a written certificate. However, they will be able to go to work, the hospital and shop, and will be allowed to walk around the house.
Across France, starting Friday, October 30, a self-isolation regime will be introduced amid the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic. This was announced on Wednesday by French President Emmanuel Macron in a televised speech to the nation.
“I made the decision that it is necessary to reintroduce the self-isolation regime from Friday, which made it possible to stop the virus,” Macron said.
He stressed that the quarantine will be introduced throughout France and will last until December 1.
“As we have learned from the spring events, this self-isolation regimen will adapt in three ways: schools will remain open, work can continue, and nursing home visits will be allowed,” he said.
Macron added that the government will detail a plan for a re-isolation regime on Thursday.
“As in spring, you can only leave home to go to work, to a doctor or a family member who needs help, to go shopping and get some fresh air close to home,” explained the French leader.
He stressed that to leave home, as in spring, you will need a written certificate.
The first time the quarantine was introduced in France was in March and lasted for almost two months.
Today it was reported that in France, COVID-19 patients occupy half of the places in intensive care.
Previously in France, more than 52 thousand cases of COVID were detected per day. At the same time, scientists said that the COVID epidemic in France is twice as serious as the official figures: more than 100,000 French fall ill every day.
