The president of Poland from 1990 to 1995, Lech Walesa, is in big economic problems due to the coronavirus pandemic. The former head of state declared bankruptcy.
He stated this in an interview with Polsat News.
“I am bankrupt, so this year no one will receive a gift from Walesa. At one point I was still active and earning something, but now this is no longer possible. There is no money except a pension. There was a time when I had a lot of money , but above all I gave them for general purposes, for charity. Now my pocket is almost empty, “said the politician.
Walesa, 77, is entitled to a lifetime monthly presidential pension of 10.5 thousand zlotys (80.5 thousand hryvnia at the exchange rate). Before the pandemic, he also worked as a lecturer at various universities around the world.
We recall, recently, the Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, said that the coronavirus pandemic will lead to a serious economic recession, which has not been the same in the last 80 years.
Previously, the organization estimated that in connection with the pandemic, more than nine million Ukrainians would become poor.
