Ukraine does not meet any of the three criteria for travel in the European Union. At the same time, Ukraine falls into the “gray” zone due to insufficient number of coronavirus PCR tests.
This was stated in a briefing by the chief medical officer, Viktor Lyashko.
He noted that in order to travel free to EU countries, three criteria must be met:
- the coverage of the tests per 100 thousand inhabitants in a week should be 300 or more;
- the proportion of positive tests among all tests performed by the PCR method must be less than 4%;
- the incidence of the disease must be at the level of 25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Also, if fewer than 300 tests are performed in a country, it falls into the “gray” zone.
In Ukraine, these indicators are:
- coverage tests 120 per 100,000 inhabitants;
- the proportion of positive tests among all tests performed by the PCR method is 18%;
- the incidence of the disease is 179 per 100 thousand inhabitants.
We recall, this week the Council of Europe approved the recommendations on the coordination of measures to restrict free movement. According to them, free movement is allowed from countries in the “green” zone. Tourists from countries in the “orange” or “red” zone impose restrictions on border crossing. For countries in the “gray” area, entry to the EU is prohibited.
Previously, RBC-Ukraine wrote that 5,992 people fell ill with coronavirus in the country per day. This is a new anti-record for Ukraine.
