Deputies from the Servant of the People faction proposed equating sexism with petty vandalism and punishing it with fines, community service, or administrative arrest.
So, on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, they registered the bill No. 4598, which at the official level will define the very concept of sexism. Another draft (# 4599) prescribes the types of liability for this violation. Both documents were sent for consideration to the corresponding committee.
Sexism is proposed to mean:

gestures, visual expressions, spoken or written words, practices and behaviors based on the idea that a person or group of people is worse off because of their gender, and that are manifested in the public or private sphere, including the Internet, and driving or cause the violation of dignity or human rights;
-
creating a threatening, hostile, humiliating or offensive environment;
-
obstruction of the independence or full enjoyment of human rights by an individual or group of individuals;
-
support and strengthening of gender stereotypes.
In particular, they want to prohibit manifestations of sexism in all types of advertising.
As an exception to this, it is proposed to consider:
-
special protection of women during pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding;
-
compulsory military service for men;
-
the difference in retirement age between men and women;
-
special labor protection requirements for men and women;
-
“affirmative action”.
The bill states that sexism can be reported to state authorities, local authorities, the National Police, the Ombudsman. In addition, a person can go to court.
For the manifestation of sexism, it is proposed to sanction:
-
a fine of 10-20 tax-free minimums (1700-3400 UAH). For a repeated offense – UAH 6800;
