Influenza may complicate the epidemiological situation in February
By mid-December, almost 5% of the population of Ukraine had already had the flu. The peak incidence is expected in February.
In Ukraine, the coronavirus is detected in patients with respiratory diseases and influenza. This is evidenced by the statistics of the Ministry of Health, published on Wednesday, December 16.
Reportedly, 279 cases of influenza-like illness were reported in a week, including 43 people who took samples of materials for simultaneous examination by PCR for influenza and SARS-CoV-2, influenza type B viruses were identified : one case, SARS-CoV-2 – 13 …
In addition, 225 cases of severe acute respiratory infection have been reported. For the PCR examination for influenza and SARS-CoV-2, 56 samples were taken. In 18 cases, positive results were obtained (influenza viruses of types A (H1) pdm09 – one case, B – three cases, SARS-CoV-2 – 14 were identified.
In total, during the past week, 183,375 people became ill with influenza and ARVI, of which 40.6% were children under 17 years of age. The intensive incidence rate is 482.6 per 100 thousand inhabitants, which is at the level of the epidemic threshold.
During the week 14,780 people were vaccinated against influenza and, since the beginning of the epidemic season, 150,615 people.
Since the beginning of the season, the incidence of influenza and SARS is 10.1% higher than in the same period last season.
From September 28 to December 13, 2020, 4.9% of the country’s population fell ill. He hospitalized 1.5% of the patients, including 10,837 children under 17 years of age. No lethal results were recorded.
The Ministry of Health expects the peak in the incidence of influenza to be in February, which will complicate the situation with the incidence of the coronavirus.
According to the World Health Organization, measures against the coronavirus have proven effective in the fight against seasonal flu. The spread of this disease has been significantly reduced.
