Five thousand doctors resigned in Ukraine since April

More than a thousand new doctors have been registered in Ukraine’s electronic health system. Gaps in the medical job market have become more visible.

Since April 2020, according to data from the e-health system, just over five thousand specialist doctors have resigned. More than a thousand new doctors have been registered, according to the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU).

“The transformation of the system has identified gaps in the medical labor market and created a demand for new specialties,” the statement said.

According to the NSZU, in April-September, the average pre-tax salary of Ukrainian doctors in medical institutions providing specialized care is for heads of institutions: 23.5 thousand hryvnia, for doctors – almost nine thousand, for nurses – 7.5 thousand . for junior medical personnel – 6.1 thousand hryvnia.

At the same time, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said on Monday, November 30, that there will be no salary increase for doctors in 2021.

Recall that the Ministry of Health named the number of doctors who died from COVID-19.

Hundreds of doctors were also reported to have requested COVID payments.
