There have been rumors on the Web for a long time that Suzuki Jimny should get a five-door version (this car was always produced only in a three-door body). And recently, documentary evidence has emerged that the legendary SUV will have such a modification.
According to Indian media, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny will officially debut in November this year (to be shown in India itself), but the car’s design has already been declassified: it was recently caught on the roads, and not one, but two copies in different colors.
Visually, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny corresponds to the appearance of a conventional SUV, it differs from the latter only in an additional section with two doors and, consequently, an elongated body. But, curiously, despite the increase in size, the Jimny long base will remain a compact model: its length will be slightly less than 4 meters.
Under the hood, the SUV most likely has a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 102 hp. and a torque of 130 Nm. Transmission: 5-speed “mechanical” or 4-speed “automatic” at the buyer’s option. It is obvious that the 5-door Suzuki Jimny will retain the all-wheel drive transmission, but the appearance of a rear-wheel drive modification is not excluded, which will make the model more accessible.

However, as we talk about the local version of the Suzuki Jimny 5-door, Maruti-Suzuki will produce such a car in India. The car will go on sale under the name of Maruti Gypsy in early 2021, its expected price is $ 13,500. Later, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door will appear in other markets.
