According to Venediktova, on the events of large-scale fires in the Lugansk region, criminal proceedings were initiated under parts 1, 2 of art. 270 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of fire safety requirements established by law). Urgent investigative actions continue.

More than 9,300 hectares in the Lugansk region are on fire. 146 forest, grass and shrub fires were recorded in Starobelskiy, Stanichno-Luganskiy and Novoaydarskiy districts. 82 fires were extinguished. Due to gusts of wind, the flame spreads rapidly.

Fire fighting and population evacuation continues. A total of 95 people were evacuated. The head of the Lugansk Regional State Administration, Serhiy Gaidai, said that the evacuees were placed in school gymnasiums, provided with food.

Rescue units from various regions: Lugansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnepropetrovsk and Poltava participated in the fight against the fires.

According to Ukrainska Pravda, according to the forecast of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center on the territory of the Lugansk region, from October 1 to 5, cloudy weather without precipitation will be observed, on October 1 wind gusts of up to 20 m / s, in other days the wind is 3-12 m / s. The air temperature during the day is 17-25 degrees.

Due to the strong gusty wind in the region, there is a threat of further spread of wildfires.
