The fires in the Lugansk region pose a threat to 22 settlements
Rescuers extinguish fires in the Novoaydarsky, Starobelsky and Stanichno-Luhansky districts, but the situation is complicated by gusts of wind.
Fires in the Lugansk region threaten 22 settlements in the Novoaydarsky, Starobelsky and Stanichno-Luhansky districts. This was reported by the State Emergency Service on Thursday, October 1.
The fire spread strongly due to the wind.
“The most difficult situation has developed along the demarcation line from Stanytsia-Luganskaya to Severodonetsk, where forest fires have become a threat to 22 settlements,” it was reported.
1,229 people and 204 teams participated in extinguishing the fire. The fires killed four people (three civilians, a forest worker) and hospitalized ten people. 120 people have already been evacuated.
In turn, the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine helps rescuers to locate the fires and say that the total area of the fire is more than 85 hectares.
In particular, 450 people were attracted from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and more than ten units of heavy engineering and special equipment were assigned.
We have already managed to locate fires in the area of the Podlesnoye, Artem, Bolotennoye and Severodonetsk settlements. The fire fighting continues near Novoaleksandrovka and Kryakovka. Between the Polovinkino – Baidovka and Artema – Malinovoye – Sandy settlements, the military and rescuers cut off the fire roads that were spreading towards the houses of local residents.
Due to the strong gusty wind, the fire destroyed dozens of residential buildings and outbuildings in Trekhizbenka, Kryakovka and Muratovo. The evacuation of the residents of the place was carried out.
We will recall that earlier in the Lugansk region they named the probable cause of the fires. Rescue teams received reports of a fire following the attacks by separatists.
It was previously reported that three people died in the fires, although now their number has risen to four. Criminal proceedings have been started on the events of large-scale fires in the Lugansk region, reports the Attorney General’s Office.
