On the morning of October 3, the fire area in the Lugansk region exceeded 20 thousand hectares. The extinction of seven main sources continues.
This is stated in the message of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
It is reported that today the estimated area covered by fire in the eight homes is more than 20 thousand hectares. The day before, in the course of extinguishing fires, the aviation made 123 discharges of water.
“Local authorities are clarifying information about the destruction and damage to residential buildings and infrastructure. During the extinguishing of the fires, 150 people were evacuated,” the statement said.
In total, almost 2,300 people and 216 teams participated in the extinction, including from the Lugansk, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Kirovograd, Poltava and Kharkov regions.
We will recall, earlier it was reported that on the morning of October 3, in the Lugansk region, one of the foci of large-scale fires was extinguished near the village of Chmyrovka, Starobelsky district.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal in a comment to RBC-Ukraine said that various versions of the occurrence of fires in the Lugansk region are being considered. Including intentional arson.
“We are considering (versions, – ed.) From the arson to the closure of the networks of strong winds. That is, the versions are different and there are several,” he said and promised that the perpetrators would be criminally responsible.
