In the Lebanese capital, Beirut, another massive fire broke out in the port. The causes of the fire are still unknown.
About it reports The Associated Press.
It is noted that the fire occurred in a warehouse where tires are stored. It is located near the site where a powerful explosion took place a month ago.
Now on the scene, firefighters are fighting the fire.
Recall that on August 4, two powerful explosions thundered in the port of Beirut. The explosion has damaged and destroyed thousands of homes. Lebanese law enforcement officials say there was a saltpeter explosion in the port. As a result of the explosion, more than 220 people have already died and some 5,000 more have been injured. More than a hundred people are considered missing, while rescuers stopped the search operation for days.
As a result of the explosion, the Lebanese authorities declared Beirut a “disaster city” and also introduced a state of emergency.
The entire Lebanese government later resigned amid protests over the bombing of the port.
Despite the preliminary version of the saltpeter explosion, US Pentagon chief Mark Esper did not rule out that the explosion could have occurred as a result of the attack.
