Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, responding to the US election meddling charge, said “the FBI gentlemen are putting on a wanted show, just like the old days of cowboys.”
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has released a message regarding the wanted list of 13 Russian citizens for possible interference in the 2016 US elections. This was reported on February 26 on the FBI website.
“These individuals allegedly took steps to influence significant numbers of Americans to interfere in the US political system, including in the 2016 presidential election,” the statement said.
The FBI notes that this happened in Washington from early 2014 to February 2018.
The United States District Court for the District of Columbia (USA) issued federal arrest warrants for these individuals on February 16, 2018 after they were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud against the United States.
The list includes employees of the Internet Research Agency and other media companies that are associated with Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin: Mikhail Bystrov, Mikhail Burchik, Robert Bovda, Maria Bovda, Gleb Vasilchenko, Alexandra Krylova, Anna Bogacheva, Sergei Polozov, Jeyhun Nasimi Ogly Aslanov, Vadim Podkopaev, Irina Kaverzina, Vladimir Venkov – and Prigozhin himself, who is also called the owner of the “troll factory”.
The Russian businessman responded by accusing the US side of trying to make a “horror story” about Russia to distract itself from the problems of its own society, reports the press service of the Prigozhin-controlled company Concord Management and Consulting in VKontakte.

The press service added that in March 2020, the interference charge with Concord Management and Consulting was completely removed, and in the summer of 2020, Interpol excluded Prigozhin from its database.

Since May 2017, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has been investigating alleged interference by the Russian Federation in the US elections and possible collusion between the US president’s entourage and the Kremlin. Criminal cases have been brought against dozens of people, including former Donald Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Trump called the Mueller investigation illegal.
On February 16, 2018, the US Department of Justice brought charges against 13 Russians in the case of interference in the 2016 presidential election. The list included the heads and employees of the Internet Investigation Agency, which is associated with Prigozhin.
Mueller’s investigation ended in the spring of 2019. He identified two areas in which Russian influence was directed in the 2016 elections: the activities of the Internet Investigation Agency, better known as the “Troll Factory,” and the hacker attacks. At the same time, he found no collusion with Russia in the actions of Trump and his team.
