The young man, who according to the investigation was driving a car while intoxicated, was arrested.
In the Kharkov region, law enforcement officers detained a 19-year-old driver, suspected of being involved in an accident with two deaths. This was announced on Thursday, October 22, by the press service of the regional police.
The detainee has already been informed of the suspicion and the question of choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
Investigators initiated criminal proceedings under the article “violation of road safety regulations or the operation of vehicles by people who drive vehicles.” The sanction of the article provides for a prison sentence of 5 to 10 years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to 3 years.
As reported, the fatal accident occurred on October 21 in Okruzhnaya near Ecopark. As a result of a frontal collision of ZAZ and Toyota cars, two people were killed. According to preliminary data, the driver of the foreign car was drunk. Media reported that the son of a former traffic policeman was driving the Toyota. And in the ZAZ car, there was the head of the 32nd state fire and rescue unit of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of the Kharkov region with his wife. They died.
