The Kiev Dynamo starting line-up hardly resembled the one we got used to in the first half of the season.
The main surprise was the appearance on the football field of Nazariy Rusin. Initially, it seemed that perhaps the Dynamo coaching staff decided to try to play with two clean forwards, but it soon became clear that Rusin would act on the right flank.
In the first half, we saw how Dynamo Tbilisi used the high pressure of the moments, which both central centrals of Dynamo Kiev coped with excellently. Both Zabarny and Sirota acted in the most efficient manner possible. Both one and the other were not afraid to move the ball further on their own, if they saw a corridor with free space in front of them. And if Sirota looked good in previous matches, then Zabarny no longer made mistakes and there was no union in his performance that we saw in previous Kiev matches.
On the left flank of the defense, Sidclay looked good. The level of the Brazilian player is visible, as they say, with the naked eye. This footballer really seems to be reinforcing the squad before the second half of the season. It is true that one of the best Dynamo players, Vitaly Mykolenko, is acting in his position. Therefore, it is not worth waiting for Sidclay to become the main one. But let’s not forget Mikolenko’s health problems in the fall, when both Karavaev and Shabanov had to act on the left flank of the defense. Therefore, the Brazilian can be useful.
In midfield we saw an unusual combination of Shepelev and Shaparenko. Very rarely, these players came out in such a combination in the first half of the season. The Kiev center seemed mobile and gave a lot of movement and a good fast attack development. Finally, Bogdan Lednev did not seem like a foreign body. The Ukrainian midfielder acted across the entire front of the attack, often moving to the flanks. He played a lot with Duelund, looking for opportunities to create moments for Supryaga.
Vladislav, for his part, also showed a good level of work off the ball. It opened very deep, clung to the balls. He was constantly looking for opportunities to run behind the backs of his rivals, acting on the edge of an offside position. But neither Supryaga nor his partners managed to create a real scoring opportunity for themselves in the first half. We can only remember that a shot beyond the goal in Karavaev’s performance from the penalty line, when the opposing defender made a mistake and hit the ball right in the leg of the right side of the “blue and white”.
The left flank of the attack seemed more harmonious. Sidclay with Duelund and Lednev came up with good combinations. On the right flank, there was much less fantasy. Rusin had a lot of desire, but little understanding of the position of the far right. Maybe because of that, and maybe just because of the first game after the injury, Rusin didn’t even finish the first half until the end. In the 37th minute of the game, Vladislav Vanat replaced him.
In the second half, Dynamo’s roster changed almost completely. Only Shaparenko remained on the soccer field.
We saw flanks more familiar with Rodríguez and De Pena. In the opening minutes of the second half, the Luxembourger took several kicks and sank for a while, but soon returned to terrify the opposing defense with his dizzying feints and quick work on the ball. The transition from defense to attack by the Kievites slowed down with the release of Sergei Sidorchuk, the captain of Kiev began to act much lower than Vladimir Shepelev. At the time of going on the attack, Sidorchuk used to fall in a line with Shabanov and Popov, which we did not see in the first half.
With the release of Buyalsky, the options for aggravating the game ahead changed somewhat. If Lednev tried to open up to his partner, look for clearance between the opponent’s lines, then in Vitaly’s performance we saw the usual sharp and timely openings on the midfolds.
The opponent of the Kievites was often pressured by a large number of players in their own penalty area, where there was minimal free space. However, Lucescu’s men kept trying to get the ball closer to the penalty area, without using long-distance shots, which would be logical in such a situation.
Artem Besedin played far from his best match. He rarely held onto the balls, there was often a misunderstanding with the players in the middle of the field. But on the left flank Mikolenko worked well as usual, Kendzera tried to match her teammate, but there was much less sharpness on her flank.
Ruslan Nesheret showed good kicks when, with his confident actions, he kept the ball on his team after being pressured by the opponent. Not so calm and clear in the center of defense, Dynamo was in the second half. And if there are no special questions for Denis Popov, Artem Shabanov was wrong and he did it regularly.
As the match drew to a close, Vitaly Buyalsky obtained a penalty, which he converted, thus snatching a victory for his team. The youth, who played for the Dynamo in the final minutes, created a few more good chances with courage, but didn’t turn them into goals. The match ended with the Dynamo victory with the score 1: 0.
