According to the exit poll conducted by the British organization Survatio, nine parties are entering the Georgian parliament. The ruling Georgian Dream party received the support of 52.26% of the voters, the opposition bloc United National Movement, formed by Mikhail Saakashvili’s party – 25.33%.
In the parliamentary elections in Georgia, the ruling party “Georgian Dream” leads (52.26%), in second place is the opposition bloc “United National Movement” (25.33%), formed by Mikhail Saakashvili’s party, which received half of the votes. This is evidenced by data from an exit poll conducted by the British organization Survation, reports Rustavi 2.
Under the new electoral legislation in Georgia’s parliament will be in the hands of parties that exceed the threshold, now set at 1%, previously it was 5%. Consequently, nine parties will enter the Georgian parliament, including:
- the ruling party “Georgian Dream” – 52.26%;
- “United National Movement” (Saakashvili’s feast) – 25.33%;
- opposition force “European Georgia” – 4%;
- Girchi party – 3.5%;
- Lelo Party – 2.6%;
- the far-right Alliance of Patriots: 2.3%;
- Giorgi Vashadze’s electoral bloc – 2.3%;
- Georgia Labor Party: 1.2%;
- party “Citizens” – 1%.
According to the exit poll of the American company Edison Research, which was ordered by the television company “Formula”, foretold similar election results… According to his calculations:
- “Georgian dream”: 46%;
- “United National Movement” – 28%;
- “European Georgia”: 5%;
- “Lelo” and “Girchi” – 3% each,
- Alliance of Patriots – 2%.
The pro-Russian United Georgia party did not enter the Georgian parliament.
The exit poll data gives an estimate of the vote based solely on party lists. These are 120 mandates. Another 30 are elected by electoral majority.
Voter turnout at 8:00 p.m., according to the country’s CCA, amounted to 56.11%. The highest electoral turnout (63.8%) was recorded in the majority electoral districts in Racha-Lechkhumi and Svaneti, and the lowest (51%) in the Kvemo Kartli region.
Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 31st, polling stations closed at 20:00. Approximately 3.5 million Georgian citizens have the right to vote. In total, 48 parties and two blocs participated in the elections.
