Exit poll local elections Slavyansk – Shtepa goes to second round, reaction of Ukrainians

In frontline Slavyansk, 23.1% of city residents in local elections on October 25 supported the former mayor of the city, Nelia Shtepa, suspected of separatism. The data from the exit poll speak of Shtepa’s second result in local elections, in the second round he will face the current mayor of the city, Vadim Lyakh, who receives 34.8%.

So, according to the exit poll, Slavic mayor Vadim Lyakh is in the lead with a score of 34.8%, Nelia Shtepa was supported by 23.1% of voters.

As you know, Nelya Shtepa was mayor of Slavyansk, Donetsk region, in 2010-2014. After the invasion of Russian troops in Donbass, he asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to send troops to Slavyansk and met with terrorist groups led by the leader of the DPR militants Igor Strelkov-Girkin.

After the liberation of the city from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Shtepa was accused of separatism, usurpation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, resulting in the death of people and the creation of a terrorist organization. Nelly Shtepa’s case is still in court.

Ukrainians reacted angrily to exit polls of the election results in Slavyansk.
