Exchange rates on December 23, 2020: the dollar recovered the fall of last week

Last week, the hryvnia strengthened by more than 50 kopecks, but this dollar returned the loss.

The dollar exchange rate at the exchange offices of banks in Kiev returned to the level of the previous week, having recovered all the fall of the last week, according to data from BIN.ua.

So, on Wednesday, December 23, the sale rate of the cash dollar increased by 18 kopecks to 28.51 UAH / USD, the purchase rate – by 16 kopecks to 28.20 UAH / USD.

The average purchase rate of the euro increased by 20 kopecks to 34.19 UAH / EUR, the selling rate – by 24 kopecks to 34.7713 UAH / EUR.

Note that the National Bank has been reducing the official hryvnia exchange rate by more than 20 kopecks for two days in a row. On December 23, the exchange rate is fixed at 28.25 hryvnia per dollar.

Last week, the NBU dramatically increased foreign exchange purchases on the interbank market. The central bank took advantage of the falling dollar and bought the US currency for $ 300 million.
