Exchange rates on December 18: hryvnia depreciated after prolonged growth

The National Bank established exchange rates for Friday

In the interbank market, the exchange rate of the dollar for sale increased by 8 kopecks – to 27.85 hryvnias per dollar, the exchange rate for purchase also increased by 8 kopecks – to 27.83 hryvnias per dollar.

On Friday, December 18, the National Bank of Ukraine reduced the exchange rate of the hryvnia by more than 8 kopecks against the dollar and by almost 28 kopecks against the euro. This is evidenced by the data on the NBU website on Thursday, December 17.

Thus, the official exchange rate of the hryvnia fell after the previous day rose to its highest since the beginning of September.

The National Bank has established the official exchange rates at the following level:

– 100 US dollars – 2781.84 hryvnia (+0.0811 UAH).

– 100 euros – 3407.89 hryvnia (+0.2768 UAH).

In the interbank foreign exchange market, the selling dollar exchange rate decreased by 1 kopeck – to 27.84 hryvnia per dollar, the buy exchange rate also fell 1 kopeck – to 27.82 hryvnia per dollar. The exchange rate of the euro for sale increased by 13 kopecks – 34.10 hryvnia per euro.

As a reminder, a moderate depreciation of the dollar against the hryvnia was expected this week. This forecast was expressed by Vadim Iosub, senior analyst at Alpari.

It also emerged that Ukrainians have been buying currency for two months in a row. Since the beginning of December, the population has bought $ 100 million more than it sold.
