The world did not converge on Messi … Ronald Koeman thought and decided to start the game against Betis without the Argentine genius. But he quickly regretted his decision. Already during the break a change was made, and shortly after the resumption of the game, Messi, without touching the ball, scored a goal for Griezmann. Kuman was relieved from his heart, and the team gradually brought the initiative to his side. Messi does not press, Messi walks and complains a lot. But you also know how to make a difference.
Betis did not lose hope in the first half. However, the “cucumbers” spent too much time designing attacks. The space that Dynamo Kiev used with enthusiasm during the week, Betis were in no rush to dominate. I still found a chance for a goal though, on the third try.
The first two were unsuccessful due to their simplicity. William Carvalho and Christian Tello shot too easily for the insurmountable Ter Stegen. But Sanabria did not repeat the mistakes of his partners. After receiving a pass from Tello’s left wing (on the way the ball touched Langle’s leg), Antonio fired in the opposite direction to the German goalkeeper.
Not to say that this goal was an illogical course of events. It was illogical for Barça to make a break without being a leader. Only Griezmann missed four chances, including a penalty.
Did the Frenchman have bad luck (or lacked ability)? From a killer position he hit anywhere, but not on target (once he even hit the post). That’s probably why the penalty kick was taken with an emphasis on reliability – he directed the ball not under the post, but slightly to the left (relative to it) of the center. But at a comfortable height for Bravo, who took advantage of the goalkeeper.
Griezmann was not the best in the first half. Both Fati and Dembele made a more vivid impression. The former, in particular, earned a penalty by skillfully substituting a Mandy foul, and the latter scored a brilliant goal with a shot from the right edge of the penalty area. Usman had enough time to stop the ball under his comfortable foot.
The missed goal “in the dressing room” upset Griezmann a lot. At least the sadness of the situation was evident on his face. However, soon this sadness turned into joy … from the joy of scoring a goal. Jordi Alba made a classic foray down the band and made a cross, Messi, after having gathered two defenders and a goalkeeper around him, missed the ball under the blow to Antoine, who had already hit an empty goal.
Messi did not stop and helped Barcelona establish a comfortable lead midway through the second half. Lionel’s activity in the penalty area resulted in a pass to Dembélé, after which Usman struck immediately. The ball at the goal line was stopped by Mandy with her hand, for which she was severely sanctioned by the referee with a straight red line and a penalty. Messi hit like he was angry, very hard and almost under the crossbar. This is the Argentine’s sixth goal of the season, and the sixth from a penalty spot.
It seemed that the game could be closed, but the current “Barça” cannot without problems. Already in the majority, defending positionally, the culés failed a dagger attack by Moreno and Morón, the latter fired at the frame without interference. The second failure did not start “Barça” – the Catalans did it without sudden movements. But even that pace was enough for another goal against the bloodless opponent: Roberto concealed pass to Messi, and Leo hit the force from the corner of the penalty area – 4: 2.
When everything was clear, the Catalans did everything for the goal of the young Pedri – Roberto made the transfer right in his leg. For a young footballer, this is an important event after a not very successful match with the Dynamo. You can enjoy the moment.
Barça win for the first time in five days. But the proof of sustainability was not today. The next day is scheduled, when Atlético will be the rival.
