The special envoy of the World Health Organization, David Nabarro, announced the danger of a third wave of coronavirus in Europe in early 2021. According to him, the countries of Europe failed to prevent the second wave of coronavirus.

He spoke about this in an interview with the Swiss media company CH Media.

Europe missed the opportunity to build the necessary infrastructure in the summer months after taking control of the first wave, according to a WHO spokesperson.

“And now they have a second wave. If they don’t build the necessary infrastructure now, they will have a third wave early next year,” Nabarro said.

He said that many Western European countries are faced with the task of “getting the virus back under control” without resorting to such an abrupt measure as the blockade, for which, as the special envoy emphasized, a “high price” must be paid.

At the same time, the WHO believes that in East Asian countries the situation with the coronavirus is better due to a “very clear communication” between the authorities and the population.

“Another element that is very noticeable in East Asia: after the number of cases (contagion) has been reduced by a strong reaction of the people, the measures are not relaxed. It is necessary to wait for the rates to fall and continue being it “, added the special envoy of the organization.

We will remember, previously, the WHO said that every 17 seconds in Europe, a person dies from coronavirus.

As RBC-Ukraine wrote, the organization also recommends not using the drug Remdesivir for COVID-19 patients, regardless of the severity of the disease. Experts said that currently “there is no evidence that the drug improves the condition of patients.”
