“Our aim is to preserve diplomatic contacts as much as possible. The Union warned Minsk that “any attempt to stigmatize any EU member state will meet with an unequivocal and supportive response.”

At the same time, Rau stressed that the support of the Belarusian people and their aspirations for democracy remains a priority.

“We need communication channels and the opportunity to act in support of a sovereign and democratic Republic of Belarus,” said the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry.
