People’s Deputy of Ukraine Andriy Derkach

The US company accused Ukrainian MP Andriy Derkach of violating social media policy.

The administration of the social network Facebook deleted the account of Ukraine’s People’s Deputy, Andriy Derkach, for interfering in the US presidential elections. This was announced on Monday, October 19, by the television company NBC with reference to the social network.

“We have removed this account and page for violating our policy against the use of our platform by people involved in influence operations aimed at elections,” the company explained.

At the same time, Derkach’s Facebook account is no longer available.

We will recall, on May 19, that the people’s deputy, Andriy Derkach, published audio materials that, according to him, may indicate the influence of former US Vice President Joseph Biden on the fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.

According to Derkach, he received the materials from investigative journalists and Poroshenko allegedly made the recording of the conversations himself.

Later, Poroshenko called the “tapes” an attempt to influence America’s attitude toward Ukraine. And at Biden’s headquarters, his alleged conversation with Poroshenko was called an edited “donut hole.”

The US Treasury reportedly imposed personal sanctions against Derkach for his attempt to influence the 2020 US presidential election. The Ukrainian MP’s assets are frozen in the United States.

In response to the sanctions, the People’s Congressman threatened to call a press conference to make public “shocking facts denouncing corruption in the United States,” and also decided to sue the United States Treasury.
