Election day poll has the support of less than half of Ukrainians

Zelensky’s initiative to conduct a poll was supported by less than half of Ukrainians.

Most Ukrainians (60%) know that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a nationwide poll on Election Day on October 25 (25% said they were aware of this, 35% had heard something). 40% of the respondents do not know anything about it.

This is evidenced by the survey data from the Sociological Group “Rating”.

At the same time, 42% of respondents are positive about the president’s decision to conduct a nationwide poll on Election Day. 33% – neutral and 22% – negative.

The survey was conducted by the Sociological Group “Rating” from October 14 to 16, 2020 among 5000 respondents throughout Ukraine, excluding Russian-occupied territories. Research method: CATI (computer assisted telephone interviews – telephone interviews using a computer). Research representativeness error: no more than 1.4%.

Recall that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy decided to conduct a poll in Ukraine in polling stations on Election Day on October 25. Voters will be offered five questions: on life imprisonment for corruption, on a free economic zone in Donbass, on reducing the number of people’s deputies to 300, on the legalization of cannabis, on security guarantees under the Memorandum from Budapest.

According to an Info Sapiens poll, in September 2020, the creation of a free economic zone in Donbass was partially or fully supported by 22.4% of Ukrainians. The majority of those who have made a decision are against it: 35.8% of Ukrainians in general do not approve of this initiative.
