Eggs and firecrackers: an action in support of LGBT people was carried out in Zaporozhye

LGBT Pride ended with the arrest of three people, one of whom was found to have a Flaubert pistol. Representatives of “traditional values” also gathered together for the action.

In Zaporozhye, on Sunday 20 September, for the first time, an action in support of LGBT people took place. They tried to throw eggs and firecrackers at the participants of the event, and weapons were seized from one of the three detainees, according to the National Police.

About 500 people participated in the action City without stereotypes. To guarantee public order, “more than 430 police officers and 240 soldiers participated.”

“During the action, aggressive youths tried to throw firecrackers and eggs at the activists. Three people were arrested for violating public safety and public order, including a man who took a gun and went towards the participants of the event,” they said law enforcement officers.

The detainee had a gun similar to Flaubert seized. The weapon will be sent for examination.

According to law enforcement officers, administrative protocols were drawn up for two 39-year-old local residents.

In addition, the LGBT Pride site was picketed by representatives of religious communities, in particular the organization Tradition and Order. They declared that they were against the “propaganda of homosexuality” and were in favor of “traditional values”.
