Russian national team coach Stanislav Cherchesov said Zenit forward Artyom Dzyuba will not be called up for the November games due to the scandalous video with the team captain.
“The situation with Artyom Dzyuba has nothing to do with the Russian team from a sporting point of view. Therefore, we do not see the need to provide detailed evaluative comments on this matter. However, the coaching staff of the national team fully understands that the team must prepare for the November games with Moldova, Turkey and Serbia in conditions of maximum concentration and not be distracted by other people’s things.
We have always emphasized that both on the football field and off it, everyone must correspond to the level and status of a player on the national team. In this sense, today it was decided not to summon Artyom Dziuba to the current training campus to protect both the team and the footballer from excessive negativity and tension.
