The game against AZ is the first real test for Lucescu and his Dynamo. The Romanian manager, in fact, was invited to Kiev to finally get into the group stage of the Championship League. And the lord of Kiev coped with the first task.
On the eve of the match, Lucescu, as in the previous three official matches, encountered a time problem for staff. The defense line had to be redrawn. Kendzer (right flank) and 18-year-old Zabarny (center) took their “home” positions in the starting lineup. The second center back was played by left-back Mikolenko, while on the left wing the Lucescu defense nominally released the right wing Karavaev.
In midfield, Lucescu preferred Tsygankov to Rodrigues: the Dynamo vice captain was injured the day before and did not even enter the app. Supryaga came to the fore.
If someone is late for the start of the match, they have lost absolutely nothing. To say that the opponents started cautiously is to say nothing. We looked at each other closely, perepasovyvalis for a long time, reluctantly crossed the midfield, expecting not even someone else’s supervision, but a banal “maybe”. And one more thing: our right flank sank a lot, in which the guests felt almost like masters, and even the gaps between the lines in Dynamo were visually noticeable. To be honest, it is very difficult to count on something serious this way. He hoped that during the break Lucescu would make adjustments.
It is difficult to say what the Dynamo manager was talking about with his players during the break, but already at the opening of the second half of the match, they took the lead. Buyalsky played excellently on someone else’s mistake and gave a true pass to Rodrigues, who was only able to get into the “frame”, which he did successfully.
The goal scored greatly contributed to the mood of the hosts, while the guests were restless. They came to their senses for a long time, as the Kievites began not only to imitate pressure, but also to actively work on the selection. The Kievites, on the other hand, clearly advanced more boldly. Finally, Supryaga had a chance, who created the moment virtually alone, but in the final stage Vlad lacked precision. The attacker also missed her a little later, when he failed to materialize De Pena’s transfer in one hit. In general, apart from these two moments, Supryaga did not remember anything in particular. And it was replaced by Verbic.
He took off Lucescu and Buyalsky, releasing Andrievsky about ten minutes before the end of regulation time. The Dynamo coach made it clear that his team will play, first, to lead the score, relying mainly on counterattacks. However, the hosts played with great tenacity in the middle of the field, preventing the rival from accelerating. But the attacks by the inhabitants of Kiev were very dangerous. Gerson, De Pena, it was just a sighting. And then the Dynamo managed an excellent attack started by Rodrigues, followed by Kendzer with his center in Shaparenko. Nikolay, after the goalkeeper’s error at the start, sent the ball into an almost empty net with his head. At this point, AZ had a great chance to regain a goal, but the crossbar played twice for the Ukraine runners-up. Twice.
The last minutes of the match were nervous, but with no chances for the Dutch runners-up. Dynamo played very competently, where it was necessary to play to sustain, where it was necessary, to aggravate. In general, the Kievists skillfully led the party to victory.
