Due to the decrease in the capacity of nuclear power plants, electricity in Ukraine has risen in price by 15%, said on Friday May 15, the head of the Energy Committee of Verkhovna Rada, Andrei Gerus, on Facebook.

He also noted that after the closure on the eve of the third block of the southern Ukraine nuclear power plant, the total capacity of nuclear units fell to a record low of 6,780 MW, this is 49% of the installed capacity of the nuclear power plant. . Currently only one of the three units is operating at SUNPP.

“A month ago, the nuclear units had a capacity of 9,150 MW, that is, 35% more, although the climate was not very different from today. The market has already reacted to the shutdown of nuclear units: in recent days, the price of electricity has increased 15%. And it is logical that the more restrictive the competition, the higher the price, “explained Gerus.

At the same time, an additional load appeared on coal-fired power plants, some of them operating in 3-5 units.

Note that on the eve of another power unit was shut down at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. Now only two of the six blocks work.

Previously, the State Bureau of Investigation launched an investigation against Ministry of Energy officials regarding a decrease in the power of nuclear power units in favor of an increase in electricity purchases from private companies.
