26 MPs from the Servant of the People faction believe that it is necessary to support their colleague in the faction, Aleksandr Dubinsky, with a statement.

The exclusion of People’s Congressman Aleksandr Dubinsky from the Servants of the People faction was supported by at least 100 of his colleagues. This is demonstrated by the results of the vote of the people’s deputies, which were filmed by the journalists of the Bukvy publication.

The vote on this issue was organized in a special mobile application of the People’s Deputies “Servidores del Pueblo”, in which they are usually asked at the polls to support certain bills.

As “Bukvy” pointed out, 175 “Servant of the People” MPs (out of 246 faction members), or about 71%, participated in the poll.

Among those who voted for Dubinsky’s exclusion from the faction, 100 MPs (or 57.1%) spoke. Faction sources told reporters that another 49 popular deputies (28%) were in favor of initiating the removal of Dubinsky from the post of vice president of the parliamentary commission on financial, tax and customs policy.

In addition, 26 deputies (14.9%) wanted to support Dubinsky (with a statement from the faction).

On January 11, the United States placed Dubinsky on the sanctions list. The former prosecutor of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine Konstantin Kulik, the fugitive businessman, former people’s deputy Oleksandr Onishchenko, and the former Ukrainian diplomat and political scientist Andrei Telizhenko were also subject to sanctions.

According to the US Treasury Department, these individuals are associated with Ukraine’s People’s Deputy Andriy Derkach, against whom the United States imposed sanctions in September 2020 “for attempting to influence the 2020 US presidential elections.”

On January 22, Dubinsky announced that Monobank had offered to close its accounts. Darya Kalenyuk, executive director of the Center to Combat Corruption, said in an interview with Ukrainskaya Pravda that people who are sanctioned by the US Department of the Treasury (OFAC) automatically fall into the “financial monitoring system of all banks. of the civilized world. ” The National Bank of Ukraine warned banks about the risks of cooperation with Dubinsky.

Dubinsky denies that, along with Derkach, he tried to influence the 2020 US presidential election.

In May, June, July and September, Derkach published four installments of recordings of alleged telephone conversations of the fifth Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, which he conducted in 2015-2016 with various politicians. In particular, alleged recordings of conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and newly elected US President Joe Biden were released.

In the recordings, people with voices similar to Poroshenko and Biden, in particular, discussed the resignation of then-Attorney General Viktor Shokin and Kiev’s receipt of US credit guarantees in the amount of $ 1 billion. Derkach believes that Biden could have put pressure on the Ukrainian leadership.

On January 25, 2021, a meeting of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction was held, in which the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, invited Dubinsky to withdraw, but did not agree.

Dubinsky complained about pressure and slander from the Anti-Corruption Center (a public organization appealed to the United States Department of the Treasury with an appeal for sanctions against the people’s deputy).
