Protests continue in Myanmar for over a month
In total, 126 protesters have become victims of the military and police since the start of the protests in the country.
In the cities of Myanmar, in protests against the military coup on Sunday March 14, the security forces killed at least 38 people, about 80 were injured. These data are provided by the Human Rights Association for Assistance to Political Prisoners in Myanmar.
According to the organization, in total, since the beginning of the protests in the country, 126 protesters have become victims of the military and police. However, this number could be much higher, human rights activists noted.
There are also reports of thousands of protesters in detention, some of whom have been sent to prison.
“As of March 14, 2,156 people were detained. At this time, 1,837 detainees continue to be detained, including three people sentenced to prison terms,” report human rights activists.
Previously, the UN reported 67 protesters killed in Myanmar. The spokesman for the organization’s secretary general, Stephane Dujarrick, called on the country’s new leadership to stop the violence against protesters.
