The law on the special status of Donbass could be extended next week. This is the most likely scenario.

This was stated by the director of Verkhovna Rada, Dmitry Razumkov, on the air of the Nash television channel.

“I believe that the extension is possible. We did this procedure last year, when we voted in favor of amendments to this law, which consisted in the fact that it only changed one year. Most likely, the year of action in the law on Donbass special status is changed to 2021- “. th “, – said the spokesman for the Rada.

He noted that there is unlikely to be any other option for decisions on this law as the end of 2020 is near.

“I think it is unlikely that other changes will take place, because this issue will need to be resolved quickly, as the schedule for our work this year ends. And this can be done next plenary week, when such an initiative appears,” Razumkov emphasized. …

In November, the head of the Servants of the People party, Alexander Kornienko, announced that the Verkhovna Rada could extend the law on local self-government procedure in the part of Donbass that is currently occupied. The rest of the legislative initiatives on Donbass are still being prepared.

Before that, the representative of Ukraine in the political subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, Andrey Kostin, said that the so-called “Steinmeier formula” would be included in the law on the special status of Donbass. This formula prescribes the procedure for restoring Ukraine’s control over this territory.
