Ukrainian doctors treating coronavirus infection work 24 hours a day in a difficult regime, and when they leave hospitals, they see how Ukrainians violate quarantine rules, this “emotionally affects”, said Ukraine’s medical director, Vice Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Ukraine, 140 doctors have died with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19. Ukraine’s chief health doctor, Deputy Minister of Health, Viktor Lyashko, spoke about this in an interview with the public.
He noted that the Ukrainian health system can withstand the increase in the incidence of COVID-19, in which between 15 and 17 thousand new cases of the disease will be registered every day.
“But we don’t want this to happen, as it is a major burden on doctors. Doctors are emotionally exhausted, physically exhausted.” I’m not talking about washing your hands. And it affects emotionally. Here they save lives, but here someone does not listen, “added Lyashko.
The deputy minister said that now, after the death of a health worker who has confirmed COVID-19, an investigation is underway, after which a decision is made to pay compensation to his relatives.
“We discussed with the Ministry of Social Policy how to simplify the procedure for conducting such investigations for workers who provide assistance to patients with COVID-19 in hospitals. If a person works in a hospital, they receive a 300% bonus, they become infected or have a fatal case, then no additional investigations are needed, since everything is already registered that works with patients with coronavirus disease, “he added.
In May 2020, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that equated doctors who died of coronavirus with those who died in the military. The families of those killed by COVID-19 must be paid 1,576 million hryvnyas, doctors who, for working with coronavirus, received disabilities – from 630.6 thousand hryvnias to 840.8 thousand hryvnias – depending on the disability group, reported in the Insurance Fund Social of Ukraine.
An outbreak of coronavirus infection began in late 2019 in China. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the spread of the coronavirus a pandemic.
During the last day in Ukraine 7014 confirmed cases Infection, since the start of the pandemic, 337 410 Ukrainians have been infected with the coronavirus, 6289 patients have died, 139 755 have recovered.
