The disconnection of the Russian Federation from the SWIFT international settlement system may become the Ukrainian “plan B” for Donbass.
This opinion was expressed in the program “Results with Vadim Kolodiychuk” on Obozrevatel TV, the first president of Ukraine, head of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kravchuk. “Now the NSDC is working on the development of a new solution in this matter. It is often called ‘plan B’, but it does not matter. I think that among the steps of this new approach may be my proposal,” he said.
According to Kravchuk, he plans to contact Ukraine’s leadership with a proposal to disconnect Russia from SWIFT. “It is natural that I will definitely go to the authorities. Because only she can run for office, “he said.
As the first president explained, the introduction of such a sanction against the aggressor country is not the wish of Ukraine, but a forced step.
“If Russia continues to block the movement towards peace in Donbass, if instead of talking, discussing and looking for ways, it uses, from its point of view, the most effective means – force and pressure – then Ukraine will be forced to seek other ways to influence Russia “, – said Kravchuk.
To solve the problem less radically, the Russian Federation must end its military presence on the territory of Ukraine, he explained.
“Russia only needs to take its military formations from Donbass, Remove weapons, withdraw from there the mercenaries, the so-called volunteers, the international terrorist groups of a different nature ”, concluded Kravchuk.
