Mircea Lucescu always complained about international ruptures. Usually he is left with a limited number of players, and when the main players return, the team is unbalanced. So it turns out in “Dynamo”, but this time most of its players played, and did not sit on the bench, and even played key roles. Thus, the Romanian was faced with a dilemma: give the leaders a rest before the match with Juventus in the Champions League or even restore teamwork. In general, Lucescu chose the second option.
Finally, the “Dynamo” coach had the opportunity to return Vitaly Mykolenko to his native left flank, because he came out in the center with Zabarny Popov. On the right, Karavaev acted in defense, while Kendzera remained on the bench. The central triangle was optimal: Sidorchuk is lower, Shaparenko in the center connects the lines, Buyalsky is below the only striker, who is now Supryaga in the team (Rusin seems to have been forgotten). Tsygankov acted on the right flank of the attack, while De Pena on the left. Obviously, Lucescu chose this pair of wingers because Verbic and Rodríguez played on Wednesday (Tsygankov on Tuesday), and even came back from the national teams.
Ivan Fedik was probably hoping to repeat the same trick his team managed to pull off in the match with Shakhtar. For this, the head coach of “Rukh” chose the tactic 4-1-4-1. Between the lines was Martynyuk, in defense, instead of the disqualified Paramonov, Stamenkovich came out with Dutz, Kopina and Glikha defended the flanks. The midfield line from right to left was formed by Klimchuk, Rusin, Brickner and Boychuk. Kondrakov, who scored in control matches during a break, replaced Kuharevich on the edge.
From the first minutes, the people of Lviv concentrated the maximum number of players in their half of the field. In reality, everyone, including Kondrakov, helped defend, trying to prevent the Kiev center-backs from playing the ball in the center-circle area. As a result, “Dynamo” for a long time ran out of chances, rolling the ball into the entrances to the penalty area. The first danger arose only in half the time, when Supryaga managed to get the ball into the penalty area, block it and shoot from an acute angle, but Bandura covered the near post.
“Rukh” defended himself very well. Of course, the amount played a role, but due to discipline and the safety net, “Dynamo” had practically no free space. If it did blow, then from an awkward position or from a great distance. Then Karavaev made a good shot from 28 meters to the bottom corner, but Bandura reacted.
However, as in the Ukraine team’s match against Spain, Viktor Tsygankov showed his extraordinary talent, creating a goal in the 30th minute. The number 15 stole the ball from Boychuk and cut a perfect pass into the free zone, where Carlos De Peña entered. The Uruguayan had no right to spoil such a transfer and attacked flawlessly.
It is true that at the end of the half, Tsygankov almost went from being a hero to an antihero. It was his cropping that allowed Rusin to stretch the ball in the middle and shoot from 18 meters. However, it turned out not too strong and right in the center. This, in fact, was the only “Rukh” moment during the entire first half.
Of course, Ivan Fedik had to react, so three new players entered the second half: the experienced Fedorchuk, Mysyk and Kukharuk. “Rukh” played more actively in midfield, but overall “Dynamo” controlled the course of events and was quickly able to put an end to the intrigue. At first, Karavaev fired from the goalkeeper’s corner, but Bandura deflected (right on the head of Supryaga, who was offside and shot parallel to the empty goal line). Then Buyalsky closed the center of Mikolenko to the left, but again the Lviv goalkeeper played in the best way.
Without scoring the second goal, the “Dynamo” took a risk. “Rukh” didn’t create any particular problems, but at any moment an opportunity could work. For example, in the 68th minute, when Martynyuk was serving from deep field, and Stamenkovich managed to hit his head, into Buschan’s hands. Once again, Rusin tried to turn to the far corner from outside the penalty area, a bit inaccurate.
The Dynamo’s attacking game wasn’t very good either, despite Lucescu significantly refreshing the team, releasing Verbic (instead of Supryaga), Rodríguez (instead of De Pena) and Kendzeru (instead of Mikolenko). The closer the final whistle got, the more often free space appeared in front of the Kievans, but Tsygankov no longer had enough strength, and Rodriguez and Verbic couldn’t feel the ball. Finally, in the 90th minute, another counterattack by the Whites-Blues was crowned with success: Shaparenko scattered, gave it to Tsygankov, connected to Kendzer, and the Pole shot Rodriguez, who, with another touch, surpassed Bandura. 0: 2 – Lucescu in silent mode brought the base to a common denominator. However, without a significant burden on defense, “Rukh” was too passive in this fight.
