Ukraine has passed the point of no return in the fight against the COVID-19 coronavirus infection pandemic, the situation is rapidly turning from difficult to catastrophic, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said.

The situation with the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection in Ukraine is almost catastrophic. This was stated by the Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov, speaking in the Verkhovna Rada on November 3, the correspondent of the publication “GORDON” reports.

“We have reached the point of no return and we are close to a catastrophe. The situation is critical not only in Ukraine, but throughout the world. England, France, Austria, Germany, Spain are again introducing strict quarantine restrictions for one reason: the COVID-19 burden cannot even support the most powerful medical systems in European countries. Difficult times are ahead, “said the minister.

The minister urged Ukrainians to behave responsibly in the event of the first symptoms of the disease: consult a doctor, isolate themselves and not endanger others.

“I want to convey the true state of affairs: the situation is rapidly changing from complex to catastrophic. The epidemic is developing at the rate of hurricanes around the world. We need to prepare for the inevitable. The second wave is impossible to pass easily. Therefore, our efforts are aimed at surviving these trials with minimal losses. […] TONo matter how we try to increase the number of beds, there is still a limit, and if the occupancy reaches 100%, we will have to use the activation of triage protocols with the priority of providing medical care to patients with a high probability of survival. This will mean that our medical system has failed, in fact it will be a disaster.“, – he added.

Stepanov stressed that there is no “independent responsible” for the fight against COVID-19.

“It will not be possible to escape. The time has come for everyone’s personal responsibility. The coronavirus is transmitted exclusively from one person to another. Therefore, each of us has personal responsibility for the spread of the coronavirus disease.” you can protect yourself. Only you can put on a mask, wash your hands and keep your distance, “he said.

An outbreak of coronavirus infection began in late 2019 in China. March 11, 2020 World Health Organization declared the spread of the coronavirus a pandemic.

In Ukraine, during the last 24 hours, COVID-19 was confirmed in 8,899 people. This figure is record. The previous one, 8,752 cases per day, was registered on October 30. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 411,093 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in the country, 7,532 patients have died, 168,868 have been cured.
