Belarusian opponents Anton Rodnenkov and Ivan Kravtsov, who were forcibly expelled from Belarus, gave their first press conference after arriving in Ukraine.
Rodnenkov and Kravtsov were kidnapped or detained in Minsk the day before, as was opposition leader Maria Kolesnikova.
On September 7, the Coordination Council, which includes the three opponents, lost contact with them. (as well as relatives). Only the next morning did it become clear that the Belarusian authorities had tried to expel Rodnenkov, Kravtsov and Kolesnikova from the country to Ukraine by force.
At the same time, Kolesnikova resisted and tore her passport, so she could not even formally reach Ukraine. As a result, she was detained by the Belarusian authorities; The exact whereabouts of María are still unknown.
Rodenkov and Kravtsov went through all the necessary border procedures and ended up on the territory of our country. Ukraine’s Interior Ministry and the State Border Service have denied propaganda statements by Belarusian state media that Ukraine allegedly detained the opposition. They can move freely around the territory of Ukraine and did not apply for political asylum, said Anton Gerashchenko.
