Nord Stream 2 construction is still frozen

Europe should not become dependent on Russian gas, said Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen has proposed a new discussion on the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline after the poisoning of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. It was reported by the Danish Radio and Television Corporation DR on Saturday 12th September.

“I have been against Nord Stream 2 all the time. I think we should not become dependent on Russian gas. It would be nice if we could start a new discussion on this issue,” said Fredriksen.

He welcomed the fact that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is now more critical of Nord Stream 2.

“In the current situation, in my opinion, there is no reason to make us dependent on Russian gas. I think it is good that our southern neighbor (Germany – ed.) Resumes the discussion after what happened (Navalny poisoning), – Said Mette Frederiksen.

Let us remind you that Germany is considering suspending the construction of Nord Stream 2 in connection with the situation with Alexei Navalny. This was stated by the German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas.
