According to RossSMI, the demonstrations in Russia are accompanied by harsh repressions. Law enforcement officers use batons and arrest protesters. In addition, some of the detainees report on social networks about the use of force against them and the threats from law enforcement officers already in the carts. Furthermore, in some regions, detainees were offered to accept a trial in absentia (without the presence of the suspects). The participants of the actions, in turn, throw snowballs at the law enforcement officers. Today there have been clashes and arrests throughout Russia. The largest demonstration is taking place in Moscow.

Number of participants

According to the Meduza newspaper, about 40 thousand people attended the rally in Moscow, and in total in Russia, at least 110 thousand.

Arrests across the country

According to OVD-Info, the number of detainees at night was 1,873. Most of the detainees are in Moscow (623) and St. Petersburg (268), Novosibirsk (95). In addition, more than 40 were arrested in Stavropol, Voronezh, Kazan and Sochi.

According to RossSMI, in Moscow in particular, 15 teenagers were arrested during the demonstration.

There are victims at rallies in Russia

According to TASS, 42 law enforcement officers were injured at the rally in central Moscow. At the same time, the number of victims among the protesters is not reported.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation announced that it was conducting inspections “on the facts of the use of violence against law enforcement officials” at a rally in Moscow.
