Riots began during the protests

German police detained dozens of people during a protest against the quarantine on May 9. RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to Radio Liberty.

It is noted that in Berlin, the security forces detained 86 people after protesters began throwing bottles at law enforcement officers at Alexanderplatz. At least one policeman was injured.

In Dortmund, a 23-year-old man attacked a film crew during a protest. The attacker was arrested.

In Cologne, the police recorded cases in which protesters asked shoppers to remove their masks when entering stores.

In Munich, police through loudspeakers asked protesters to comply with social distance rules to minimize the risk of coronavirus infection.

We will recall, it was previously reported that in the cities of Germany on May 9 there were several protests against the quarantine restrictions introduced in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. The rallies were organized by the public initiative “Dissent”. Local media write that among the group’s members are supporters of conspiracy theories and far-right populists.

RBC-Ukraine also wrote that in April in Berlin, the police arrested more than 100 protesters against quarantine. Around 1000 people participated in the protest.

Note that the protests in Germany take place in the context of a weakening of the quarantine. Authorities previously said they had taken the epidemic under control.
