Ukraine will receive 5 million doses of the CoronaVac coronavirus vaccine developed by the Chinese company Sinovac in the first half of 2021.
The website of the pharmaceutical company “Lekhim” reports that the corresponding agreement has already been concluded.
“The Lekhim Group and Sinovac Biotech, which are partners, have reached an agreement in negotiations that lasted 10 months, on cooperation in the distribution and localization of the production in Ukraine of the vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 virus for a period 5 years “in the message.
The press release specifies that, in addition to the sale of the CoronaVac vaccine, the cooperation involves the organization of the production of finished dosage forms of vaccines (including CoronaVac) from 2022 in Ukraine (Lekhim-Kharkiv). Starting in 2025, it is planned to organize a full production cycle for the main vaccine list.
As previously reported by OBOZREVATEL, Ukraine signed the first contract for the supply of the vaccine to Sinovac Biotech in December. Nearly 2 million doses should be given as soon as possible.
It was previously known that interim tests of the CoronaVac vaccine showed its effectiveness up to 97%.
