December started with frost and ended with temperature records.
The average monthly temperature in December 2020 in Kiev was 0.5 degrees below zero. This is 1.8 degrees above the climatic norm.
This is reported by the Central Geophysical Observatory.
As noted in the observatory, the first decade was 2.1 degrees cooler than the climatic norm, the second already surpassed the long-term average by 3.0 degrees, the third overall turned out to be the warmest, “which it contradicts the previously usual natural processes. “
According to climatologists, it was coldest on December 7, when the minimum temperature dropped to 9.5 degrees in the morning, and the warmest on December 31, when the maximum temperature rose to 8.4 degrees in the afternoon, thus establishing a temperature record. Precipitation in Kiev during the month fell 48 mm, which accounted for 92% of the climatic norm.
We will recall, in Kiev at the end of 2020, several temperature records were updated. Meteorologists recorded maximum temperatures during 140 years of observations.
Note that according to the forecast of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, in January 2021 the average monthly temperature in Ukraine is expected to be 0 to 4 degrees below zero, in the southern part in places of 1 to 3 degrees. This is 2-2.5 degrees higher than the long-term average values.
