The personnel of the Security and National Defense Council had no information about a possible special operation to arrest the militants of the private military company “Wagner”. The NSDC does not know if a similar situation actually happened.
This statement was made by NSDC secretary Oleksiy Danilov on the air of Ukraine 24 television channel.
Danilov explained who can know if such a special operation was carried out.
“If there was an operation of this type, only the people directly related to it know it,” he emphasized.
At the same time, Danilov is concerned about the leak of classified information in Ukraine.
“It is another matter that surprises me a lot when information begins to appear in the media that is 100% classified. Even if this information was, there is no need to put it on the media shelves,” stressed the secretary of the NSDC.
We recall that at the end of July several dozen soldiers of the Russian PMC “Wagner” were arrested in Belarus. Some of the militants had previously participated in hostilities in Donbas, for which Ukraine has requested their extradition. However, Belarus handed over the militants to Russia.
Subsequently, the Russian media spread information that the arrest of the “Wagnerites” in Belarus was allegedly a special operation of the special services of Ukraine. Some Ukrainian journalists also announced the alleged carrying out of a special operation. Ukrainian special services deny their involvement in the “Wagnerists” and deny that such a special operation was carried out.
Note that the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine urged not to involve the special service in political discussions, because this threatens the national security of the country.
