The National Defense and Security Council of Ukraine is preparing a new decision on the situation in the JFO zone and in the occupied part of Donbass.
As NSDC secretary Aleksey Danilov recalled in his interview with “Focus”, on December 9 the “plan A” on the resolution of the conflict in Donbass by political and diplomatic means expires.
“I will reveal a little secret: the NSDC’s decision is being prepared on the situation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions,” he said.
Danilov declined to reveal details, as he does not yet know what the solution will be: open or closed.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, on December 7, 2019, the NSDC of Ukraine in a secret closed-door meeting chaired by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, approved the main scenario for the development of the situation in Donbass.
Danilov then said that the approved scenario for the reintegration of Donbass involves the return of the occupied territories from the Donetsk and Lugansk regions to Ukraine. He also recalled that Ukraine wants to return its prisoners who are on the territory of the Russian Federation, in Crimea and in the occupied part of Donbass.
Furthermore, according to the NSDC secretary, Ukraine wants to cease fire in Donbass. The third issue that was considered was the return of control over the border to Ukraine, and only after that was the issue of holding local elections in ORDLO.
